May 10th Lancaster Speedway
A great night of racing with 16 modifieds in the pits. The night started of good for Barton Motorsports with Larry Jackson on the pole for the 1st heat. The race went well with Larry finishing 2nd with Putney taking the win and Fidanza finishing 3rd. In the second heats Littlefield would hold on to the win.The feature started with Jackson on the pole and Wollaber on the outside. Jackson would get a great start pulling out to the early lead but the yellow would fly early with the spin in turn 1 On the restart Jackson again would get a great run and pull out to a nice lead followed closely by Wollaber and Putney. Larry would lead them until the caution would again fly for a multi car spin in turn one on lap 3. The cars would get going again and the green would fly again this time Jackson would pull out to a good lead but the started didn't like the start and waved the yellow again. On the restart Wollaber put a good fight on the outside for a few laps but Jackson would come out the leader. Jackson would hold onto the lead until around lap 14 when he encountered a fuel pick up problem and the car stuttered come down the front straight. This would end the night for us after holding the lead for so long it was a disappointment for everyone on the Barton Motorsports team to see it end that way.
The race would keep going with Wollaber coming through as the new leader followed closely by Putney. Putney would get a great run on Wollaber and pull past him for first. The caution would fly again for another spin. this would bunch the field up and make for an exciting end to the race. On the restart Putney held everyone off and pulled away. It wasn't till the last lap that Wollaber put a move and tried to past Putney on the outside of turn 3. Wollaber drove in deep and got a good run on Putney only to have it all go wrong coming out of 4 for the checkered. The car went out of control and Putney went along for the ride. Mangus who was running third took the win by being in the right place at the right time. Mangus was followed by Hehr, Alex, Troyer and Staubitz. Hopefully we can find our problem and have another shot at the win next week.
